10 Minute Workout
Think you can’t get a good workout in just 10 minutes? Think again!
While I’m not a big fan of fad workout programs that require only 10 minutes a day, I recognize that schedules can be hectic, and some days you may not have time for a full workout.
And if you only have 10 minutes, then you likely won’t have time to hit the gym. Home workouts can be just as effective as gym workouts with the right pieces of equipment. Let’s take a look at my 10 minute home workout…
10 Minute Home Workout
This workout is designed to be a full body workout, so this one’s great for jumpstarting your metabolism for the day or burning off a big dinner at night. And because you only have 10 minutes, you won’t need to worry about tiring out your muscles too much.
The Equipment
For this workout, you’ll need 3 pieces of equipment. First, invest in a good push-up/pull-up bar like this Deluxe Chin Up Bar. It’s a very versatile and effective piece of equipment.
Second, you’ll need an exercise ball like this Xercise Ball Package With DVD And Pump. This is something that’s really great to have at home.
And finally, grab a set of resistance bands like these Adjustable Resistance Toning Tubes. They seem simple enough, but they can add resistance to your workouts without needing dumbbells.
The Workout Plan
For all exercises, do 1-2 sets of 10-12 reps, depending on your level of fitness and your speed through this circuit. This circuit will maximize the number of muscle groups you’re able to work in such a short period of time.
- 1 Set of Burpees to warm up (view exercise)
- Squat with Resistance Band (view exercise)
- Stability Ball Back Extension (view exercise)
- Pull-Ups with Pull-Up Bar
- Reverse Lunge with Resistance Band (view exercise)
- Oblique Crunches on Stability Ball (view exercise)
- Push-Ups on Pull-Up Bar
- Lateral Raise with Resistance Band (view exercise)
- Ab Crunches on Stability Ball (view exercise)
- Tricep Dips on Pull-Up Bar
Sound like a good little workout? Trust me, this one will get you working up a sweat! The key is to move as quickly as possible between workouts. Remember, with only 10 minutes to work out, you can worry about your rest afterwards.
The Recovery
To maximize the results of any workout plan, whether at home or at the gym, make sure you follow up your workouts with a satisfying, high-quality protein supplement like Gaspari Nutrition Myofusion.
Increasing your protein intake will not only support lean muscle growth, but it will also give your metabolism a major boost and get you burning extra fat and calories.
If you’re looking to get serious about your weight training, you should also consider taking a couple amino acid complexes. In particular, Optimum Glutamine and Optimum BCAA 1000 Caps will improve recovery and increase your gains considerably.
Home Workout Options
If you’re looking for other good home workout ideas, I’d check out Hip Hop Abs or P90X. I’ve tried both myself, and they’re both very effective workout programs. They can offer you some great options if you don’t have time to make it to the gym.
Or, if you’re looking to add some variety to your workout schedule, try a home yoga program. This Gaiam Yoga for Beginners Kit is great for beginners and includes an instructional DVD.
